Data you provide directly:
- Trip data — country, entry date, exit date. This is stored locally in your browser (localStorage) and never sent to our servers unless you create an account.
- Email address — if you join the app waitlist or create an account. We use this only to send you relevant updates about the product.
Data collected automatically:
- Analytics data — we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use the app (pages visited, buttons clicked, session duration). This data is anonymized and aggregated. Google Analytics may use cookies to collect this information.
- Technical data — browser type, device type, and approximate location (country level) collected automatically by our hosting provider (Vercel).

- Trip data — to provide the core functionality of the app. Legal basis: contract performance / legitimate interest.
- Email address — to send you updates you have explicitly requested. Legal basis: consent.
- Analytics data — to improve the product and understand usage patterns. Legal basis: legitimate interest.

We use the following cookies:
- Functional cookies — to store your trips locally in your browser (localStorage). These are strictly necessary for the app to work.
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics 4 to track usage patterns. You can opt out by declining cookies when prompted, or by using browser extensions like uBlock Origin.
We do not use advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers.

- Trip data in localStorage — until you clear your browser data or delete the trips manually.
- Email addresses (waitlist) — until you ask us to remove them.
- Analytics data — retained by Google Analytics for 14 months (Google's default).

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data. Trip data is stored only in your browser unless you create an account. When account features are live, all data will be transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections and stored in secure cloud infrastructure (Supabase).
9. Children
VisaStay Tracker is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we will notify users via email if we have your address.
